École SUKUNUNU is one of the flagship projects of the association IBAZA IMFURA. The school was created to promote equitable access to education and to support vulnerable children.
Today, SUKUNUNU is more than a school. It is a place of learning, social integration, equality and hope for children from different communities.

About SUKUNUNU
A School Built on Inclusion and Opportunity
SUKUNUNU was established with a strong commitment to education, inclusion and the wellbeing of vulnerable children.
Our Story
SUKUNUNU School was founded in 2019 and opened its doors during the 2019/2020 school year.
The project was initially created to provide equitable access to education for pygmy children. Over time, the school opened its doors to children from other communities, encouraging integration and social cohesion.
The school is located in Burunga Province, in Bururi Commune, Burundi.

Celebrating Student Achievement
During the 2025/2026 school year, pygmy student Ninahazwe Divine successfully passed the national examination and was admitted to École d'Excellence de Kiremba Sud.
Her achievement represents the transformative power of education and the possibilities that become available when children receive the support they deserve.
